Western medical acupuncture, fine, single-use needles into specific points to release muscular trigger points and modulate pain pathways.
Medical acupuncture (also known as dry needling) uses fine, single-use needles to release muscular trigger points and modulate pain pathways. It's distinct from traditional Chinese acupuncture: we aren't balancing energy lines, we're targeting tight bands of muscle that refer pain elsewhere.
What it's good for
- Persistent muscle pain that hasn't responded to hands-on work alone
- Tension headaches and migraines with a muscular component
- Tight upper trapezius, levator scapulae and suboccipitals
- Lower back referring into the glutes and hamstrings
Acupuncture is typically combined with osteopathic treatment in the same session rather than offered as a standalone, we use it as a tool when your presentation calls for it.
